The week winds down and Friday is pretty light on good series, but there is some fun to be had. I just hope this isn’t Law & Order’s final resting place, it would be a shame for such a great series to come to an end Friday nights at eight.

On that note, Law & Order kicks off its twentieth season with “Memo From the Dark Side”:

When a young war veteran is found dead, Detectives Lupo and Bernard connect the murder to an attorney who used to work for the Department of Justice.

“Savior” is Smallville’s ninth season opener:

Clark wants to start training with Jor-El; Lois meets John Corben, a new reporter at the Daily Planet; Chloe makes a request that drives a wedge between her and Clark.

Goyer and Braga give it another shot tonight with the debut of FlashForward while CBS’ lineup returns including my favorite new show last year, The Mentalist.

A lot of people are excited for the debut of FlashForward, we’ll see how it turns out:

A normal day turns to chaos when everyone on Earth blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and sees events from their own futures.

The second episode of Bones‘ fifth season is entitled “The Bond in the Boot”:

Booth and Brennan investigate when a man is murdered for the undisclosed contents of his briefcase; the team looks for alternate funding for Wendell when he loses his scholarship.

ABC kicks off its new comedy night after the crapfest dance show while CBS’ procedurals make their return. Oh yeah, and ABC has a new dramedy in Eastwick I presume.

Loads of new series premieres tonight, plus good ole NCIS back for another season of fun. We also get the season finale for Warehouse 13. I still haven’t gotten into the groove of writing episode summaries, so I’m going to stick all shows into single posts. If I can get up the energy (or overcome my inherent laziness, take your pick) I’ll get some summaries into the comments and we’ll go from there.

The third epiosode of 90210’s second season is entitled “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat”:

Harry shares his family problems with Kelly; sparks fly when Dixon meets his dream girl; Liam works on a mysterious project; the gang spends an afternoon with Teddy on his father’s yacht.

The seventh season of NCIS picks up where it left off with Ziva captured in an episode entitled “Truth or Consequences”:

With the weight of the past on their minds, Gibbs and the team go back to work, with DiNozzo and McGee beginning to search for Ziva’s replacement.

Tonight is the real debut of the Fall 2009 season, with new shows and the return of old favorites. From the special loony bin House to the return from the Arctic The Big Bang Theory, hopefully there’s something for everyone. As for myself, this is a pretty packed night:

The fourth season of Heroes kicks off with two episodes tonight entitled “Orientation” and “Jump, Push, Fall”. TiVo provides a joined description:

A mysterious death pushes Claire into the spotlight; Angela worries that Nathan will discover his true identity; an unexpected visitor haunts Matt; H.R.G. and Tracy join forces.

Meanwhile House returns for a sixth season with a two-hour special, “Broken”, described by TiVo as:

House goes through detox, hoping to stop the hallucinations that tormented him; Dr. Nolan refuses to sign the paperwork to reinstate House’s license unless House participates in is own mental recovery.

We get the exit of Eureka tonight.

For the eighteenth episode of Eureka’s third season entitled “What Goes Around, Comes Around”, we get the following TiVo description:

Zoe prepares to leave for college; Tess receives a job offer in Australia; a magnetic disturbance hovers above Eureka.

Maybe this mean no splotch-faced Zoe next season! Not enough to remove the general boredom that pervades the show, but it helps.

Week in Games – September 14-20

The holiday season has kicked off and the new releases are pouring out. I had five new Xbox 360 games to pick up this week, plus two downloadables. Unfortunately the one game I was looking forward to looks to be a bust, and since I hate flying and driving games, for the most part the week was a bust.

Supernatural – Good God, Y’all

I wasn’t sure how the angels part would play out in this new season but it looks like they’re in the thick of things.

For the second episode of its fifth season, entitled “Good God, Y’all”, TiVo offers the following description:

In hopes of defeating Lucifer, Castiel decides to search for God; Bobby’s friend, Rufus, begs for help when demons begin attacking his town.

Looks like we’re in for some fun demon killing!

This is more like it! We get the return of both Bones and Fringe to go along with the angst-ridden crapfest The Vampire Diaries and the always reliable Supernatural. We also get a new comedy from NBC, Community, to hold 30 Rock’s place until late October. Of course NBC’s other, dreadful comedies return tonight as well, but I’ll be skipping those as I get more laughs rubbing my cock with a cheese grater.

My big hope is that Bones returns to form after the crappy season finale earlier this year. I don’t really care about Booth and Bones hooking up, just the fun cast camaraderie and icky mysteries. Continue Reading…

Well I’ve decided to be a little more choosy about which shows get individual posts. Until I start getting discussions started I’m going to group some shows into the general “television tonight” post. If I see people getting excited about certain shows I’ll break them out into individual articles.

With that said, tonight we say goodbye to Dark Blue while welcoming The Beautiful Life, which I anticipate will be quite the cheesefest. Beyond the hilarious real-life back-stage trials and tribulations, we have quite a few leaden performers front and center. Continue Reading…
